Pharmacy Technology

The Pharmacy Technician Program will prepare you to assist pharmacists in their day-to-day tasks. These professionals work under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist and other health care providers. This is a 219 hours classroom instructions and a 160-hour externship. Total clock hours 379.

Upon successful completion, student will be able to
Collect, organize, and evaluate patient information for accuracy
Prepare medication orders, inventory, stock shelve, and fill prescriptions.
Perform aseptic technique in a horizontal LAH and prepare IV piggyback order.
Compute pharmaceutical calculations, reconstituting sterile drugs, and proper storage of medications.
Compound suspensions, suppositories, capsules, and ointments.

General Admissions Requirement
o Applicants must be 18 years or older.
o All applicants must present a valid State issued Identification.
o You must have a social security number.
o Proof of High School Graduate/GED or a degree higher than High School Diploma.
o Felony, drug, theft, and certain convictions are not allowed. Background check, and drug screening required.
o Physical exam, TB screening, and immunization as required by externship site.
