Basic Life Support for Healthcare ProvidersBasic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) is designed to train professionals to respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies for adult, child, and infant victims. Consistent with the 2015 AHA Guidelines for CPR/ECC, BLS is the foundational CPR/AED program typically required for healthcare providers and public safety professionals. Through the use of lecture, skills demonstration and practice, case-based emergency response scenarios, and reflection and debriefing activities with a focus on team-based response, BLS builds the key critical thinking, problem solving, and team dynamic skills that are needed to drive better patient outcomes. Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive a 2-year “Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers” digital certificate with anytime, anywhere access to certificate and training history. NOTE: Students must be able to read English sufficiently to understand the skill handbook. They must be in good physical shape to kneel on the floor for training. Students will not be admitted late. Upon successful course completion you will be issued an official AHA BLS Provider card on site. This official AHA BLS/CPR for Healthcare Providers Skills Verification course satisfies Part 2 and Part 3 of the AHA Heartcode BLS Course taken online You must have completed the HeartCode BLS Part 1 Online or BLS for Healthcare Providers Online Part 1 and bring proof of completion with you to the skills session. If you do not take the HeartCode online BLS Course offered through American Heart Association or you do not bring proof of completion you will not receive BLS Certification. The BLS skills evaluation includes: Assessment of Unconscious Victims Adult Chest Compressions for Single and Multiple Rescuers -Ventilation with a Pocket Mask - Ventilation with Bag Valve Mask - Ventilation with Supplemental Oxygen Infant and Child CPR - Infant and Child Chest Compressions Treatment for Choking for all ages Proper use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Cancellation Policy: Vasco Career College does not offer refunds once your registration is complete. If you have an emergency that makes you unable to attend the course, you must contact the Career College 48 hours prior to the start time of the class. The Career College Staff will move you to the next available course or issue a course credit. Course credits can only be applied to the same type of course, cannot be used by another person and must be used within 90 days of the missed course. Once a credit is applied, the student must attend that course – a credited course will not be refunded or credited a second time. The Heartsaver CPR/AED Course is a modular CPR course that teaches rescuers how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking for responsive adult, child, and infant victims. Students also learn to recognize the warning signs of heart attack and stroke in adults and breathing difficulties in children. This program teaches rescue breathing with and without the use of barrier devices. This course covers AED and relief of choking in the adult, infant, and child.
If you are a healthcare provider you may be required to take a different CPR course (CPR/Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers). To register for the CPR/BLS course, select that course from the "Offered Classes" link for more information and secure online registration.
